Oil is removed from the raw wheat germ using a globally adopted and highly regulated method of vegetable and seed oil extraction. Oils and food produced by this method are utilised in nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and the food industry.
It is highy effective leaving less than 1% residual oil in the de-fatted wheat germ. It not only removes the fats which if left untreated are liable to oxidation; the heat is a natural kill step which stops enzyme and bacterial activity thus producing a very stable de-fatted wheat germ product with a dramatically extended shelf life.
